For the second straight year, the Unites States Specialty Sports Association has named the Lincoln Civic Center Baseball Complex as the South Mississippi Park of the Year.
Lincoln Civic Center Manager Quinn Jordan was presented with the award at a recent banquet in Biloxi. Also honored at the banquet were two area umpires who shared the award for Umpire of the Year. Robert Byrd and Marty Smith — both of Brookhaven — were each given trophies to honor them as Umpire of the Year.
“Receiving this award is just affirmation that all the work and funds invested in our complex by the board of supervisors, Lincoln County Civic Center Commission, our staff, volunteers, umpires, and sponsors is worth it,” said Jordan.
The park continues to be lauded by coaches and fans in the travel baseball circuit, as the five-field complex draws in visitors from all over the region for events.
“This type of recognition is good to continue to draw in visitors to Lincoln County,” said Jordan. “I’ve always said once we get them here it’s easy to get them to keep coming back.”
