A 17-year-old football player from West Lincoln High School was killed in a one-vehicle crash on Auburn Drive Tuesday afternoon shortly before 2 p.m.

Lincoln County Coroner Clay McMorris identified the victim as James Brayden Anthony of Bogue Chitto.

The teenager was headed north on Auburn Drive about 200 yards from Randolph Lane when it appears his vehicle left the road on the right side and struck a tree, said Lincoln County Sheriff Steve Rushing.

The victim was alone in the Nissan 370Z and was not far from his home, he said.
