Dorothy “Dot” Wallace Hutson, age 78, went to her heavenly home on Friday, April 12, 2019. She was an active member of the First United Pentecostal Church of Independence. Dot had a gift for growing beautiful flowers in her garden, along with her prolific painting creations. When Dot wasn’t cooking for family gatherings, she found time to produce wonderful crafts. Dot is already deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Dot is survived by her loving husband of 21 years, Donald Hutson; daughters, Betty Wallace (fiancé Steve), Sue Singer (Pat), Eugenia Cozad (Stephen); son, Edward Eugene Wallace Jr. (Melissa); sister, Louise Berne (Dennis); brothers, Raymond Rushing, Rodney Rushing (Gloria); multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Dot is preceded in death by her daughter, Jeanette Hurst; parents, Grady and Nellie Rushing; siblings Jr. Ray Rushing, Calvin Rushing, Sissie Howard, Irvin Rushing, Irene Caves and Roy Rushing; husband, Edward Wallace Sr.; and grandson, Louis Rodriguez III.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, today, April 16, 2019 from 6 to 9 p.m.

Visitation will resume on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 from 9 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. Bro. Billy Hutson, Bro. Jeffrey Ellis, Bro. James Menona and Bro. Thornbury will officiate with interment to follow in Sandhill Cemetery.
