Storm shelter opens, Brookhaven schools dismiss early

Lincoln County Emergency Management Coordinator Clifford Galey said the Brookhaven Building at 1134 Beltline Drive NE is today as a temporary shelter in anticipation of severe weather this afternoon.
Chairs, restrooms and a drinking fountain will be available. No pets permitted.
All schools in the Brookhaven Public School District dismissed at 12:30 p.m. Lincoln County attendance centers are closed today for Easter break.
A tornado watch was issued for Brookhaven, Lincoln and surrounding counties until 7 p.m. Mississippi counties affected are: Lincoln, Copiah, Adams, Holmes, Jefferson, Madison, Sharkey, Wilkinson, Amite, Franklin, Humphreys, Lawrence, Pike, Simpson, Yazoo, Claiborne, Hinds, Issaquena, Rankin and Warren.
