Dr. Rev. Ralph V. Calcote

Memorial services for Dr. Rev. Ralph V. Calcote will be on Friday, May 31, 2019, at First Baptist Church of Brookhaven in Brookhaven, Mississippi, at 2 p.m. with burial to follow in the New Hope UMC Cemetery in Loyd Star, Mississippi. Rev. Greg Warnock will be officiating the services. Visitation will be at First Baptist Church of Brookhaven on Friday, May 31, 2019, from noon until 2 p.m.

Dr. Reverend Ralph Victor Calcote, of Brookhaven, Mississippi, passed from this life on Thursday, May 9, at a ripe old age of 95 ½ at home with his loving family by his side.   He was born in Brookhaven, Mississippi, on Sept. 12, 1923. 

Ralph Calcote graduated from Loyd Star High School, Mississippi State University, Southern Theological Seminary and Southeastern Baptist Seminary and served in the US Navy.

Ralph and Gena served as Southern Baptist missionaries to the Japanese people from 1951 – 1985. Upon retirement, Ralph served as the hospice chaplain for Hospice Ministries and as chaplain for King’s Daughters Hospital in Brookhaven, Mississippi.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife Gena Wall Calcote; second wife Martha Troxel Calcote; sister Kathryn Mehr; and grandson Jered Jackson.

Survivors are his children, Stuart Calcote and wife, Tanya, Cherryl C. Duncan and husband, Gordon, Nancy Calcote, Janet C. Simmons and husband, Charles, and Robert W. Calcote and wife, Judy; siblings Christine Dickey and Helen Huff; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four stepchildren and numerous nieces and nephews including missionary kids.

Ralph is known to share his love by asking every day, “Have I told you about the love attack?”  I love you, I need you, you are beautiful. Dr. Ralph V. Calcote — loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, friend and pastor. You will surely be missed.
