If you like to eat, listen to good music and help a local non-profit, the Taste is for you.

The Taste of the Trust is the Brookhaven Trust’s only fundraiser. It will be Thursday night from 5:30 until 9:30 p.m. at the Brookhaven Country Club at 640 Country Club Road NE.

Music will be provided by “Keys vs. Strings: Marvin Curtis and Topher Brown” with food from more than 15 area restaurants.  The Taste of the Trust also features food-tasting and a silent auction.

“It’s a blast,” Brookhaven Trust President Jillian Ricceri said.

Tickets for the Taste of the Trust can be purchased from any member of the Brookhaven Trust for $35. Tickets will also be available at the door for $40.

There will also be a silent auction at the event, and the Brookhaven Trust will be taking donations for the auction right up until Thursday.

“You can drop off items any time Thursday at the Chamber of Commerce,” Ricceri said. “We’re having BRAG — the Brookhaven Regional Arts Guild — they’re donating a lot of art pieces. We’re really excited about that. A lot of businesses have already donated.”

The Brookhaven Trust is an organization dedicated to preserving Brookhaven’s heritage and improving its downtown. It was founded in 1991 to save the Mary Jane Lampton Auditorium on the old Whitworth College Campus, now at the Mississippi School of the Arts. Repairing the auditorium’s roof was their first major project, and they have continued working downtown.

“Our mission is to improve historical elements of downtown and cultivation of the arts,” Ricceri said. “It’s really important to keep Brookhaven’s downtown lively.”

Money from the fundraiser is used to preserve the history of Brookhaven, to promote the arts and to improve downtown. In 2016, the Brookhaven Trust worked together with the Chamber of Commerce and local business owners to put up rooftop lighting downtown.

It has donated money for improvements in the Lincoln County Historical and Genealogical Museum, Mississippi School of the Arts and The Haven and at several businesses through its façade program.
