Funeral services for James Rice Godard will be on Friday, Dec. 6, 2019, at Brookhaven Funeral Home (894 Natchez Drive) in Brookhaven, Mississippi, at 2 p.m. with burial to follow in the Wellman Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Thomas Wicker, Bro. Justin Davis and Bro. Jeff Davis will be officiating the services with Brookhaven Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2019, from 5 until 8 p.m. and will continue at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Friday, from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m.

Mr. Godard, 87, of Brookhaven, Mississippi, passed from this life on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019, at home with his loving family by his side. He was born on March 7, 1932, in Natchez, Mississippi, to Russell Mulvoy and Annie Henry Godard. He was a member and deacon of Victory Baptist Church; worked for many years as a sales clerk; was a member of the Brookhaven Lodge #241, York Rite and Scottish Rite, and a past grand patron of the State of Mississippi Order of the Eastern Star and worthy patron of the Brookhaven #1; and enjoyed fishing, reading, traveling and spending time with his family and friends. He was a loving husband, uncle and friend.

Preceding him in death were his parents; siblings, Russell Godard Jr., and Preston Godard; and sister-in-law, Sarah Godard.

Survivors are her wife of 61 years, Emma Brister Godard; nephews, Keith Godard and Scott Godard; niece, Debbie Armistead; and a host of friends.

Pallbearers are Hilton Greer, Billy Britt, Landon Britt, Dooley Thornhill, Pedro Greer and Kyle Williams.
