Harold David Green lived a life filled with accomplishment, dedication and love. On Jan. 14, 2020, at the age of 81, Harold passed away peacefully at Merit Health Wesley in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, surrounded by his loving wife of 58 years, two sons and other beloved family members. A man of enduring might and strength, Harold was blessed with good health and spent only a few short days of his long, full life hospitalized. Known for his precise, meticulous nature, an abrupt death seems to be the only thing he ever did quickly.

On March 9, 1938, Harold was born in Bogue Chitto, Mississippi, to Charlie and Annabell Green. The second of seven children, Harold and his older brother were inseparable, and he was a natural leader and caring older brother for his younger five siblings. Upon graduating from Bogue Chitto High School, Harold served as a corpsman in the US Navy for four years before receiving an honorable discharge in 1960.

Harold and wife Faye shared their first home in Moab, Utah, after their marriage in 1961. Harold’s successful career with Conoco swept the young couple and their growing family to new homes across the country, including Colorado and Montana where their sons were born. They later settled in Hattiesburg where their sons graduated from both high school and college. Though his sons remember his disciplinary expertise all too well from their childhood, Harold’s grandchildren enjoyed the softer side of him, reveling in his affection.
