A Brookhaven man died in a one-car accident Thursday night, authorities said.

The identity of the 65-year-old man has not been released because authorities had not been able to notify his next of kin as of Friday afternoon.

Lincoln County Coroner Clay McMorris said the man was driving south in a passenger car on Hog Chain Drive around 8:30 p.m. Thursday when he apparently lost control of the vehicle and collided with a tree.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, McMorris said.
