Dorothy Jefferson was born February 5, 1934 to the late Ellis and Cora Lee Walters.  She was married to the late Walter Jefferson and to this union two children were born, Sherman and Walter Jefferson.

Dorothy attended the Oma Community School and then graduated from Lawrence County Training School where she was a good basketball player.  She retired from Lawrence County Nursing Home where she was a CNA.  She was a member of Pearl River Valley Missionary Baptist Church.  She truly loved church and enjoyed life.

She leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Sherman (Lisa) Jefferson of New Hebron, MS and Walter Glen (Philippia) Jefferson of Brookhaven, MS; six grandchildren, Kristen Jefferson of Monticello, MS, Precious Cooper of Prentiss, MS, Shermyiah Jefferson of New Hebron, MS, Ebone’ (Tyler) Jefferson-Smith of Ridgeland, MS, Deryea May and Xaviera Watkins both of Brookhaven, MS; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

She died March 29, 2020 at her residence in Brookhaven, MS.  Graveside Services were held on April 4, 2020 at Pearl River Valley Cemetery in Monticello, MS.
