Mr. Leon Ervin Smith, 71, of Hazlehurst, MS, formerly of Bogue Chitto, MS, passed from this life on Monday, June 15, 2020, at his residence in Copiah County. He was born on February 22, 1949, in Brookhaven, MS, to William Smith and Ola Mae Lynch Smith. He was a member of Pine Bluff Baptist church in Dentville, MS. Mr. Smith was a retired welder. He enjoyed fishing, music and spending time with his grandchildren and his sweetheart Emma Jean Smith whom he has been reunited with. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Emma Jean Smith; his parents, William and Ola Mae Smith; brothers, Jerry and Gerald Smith; and special cousin, Sydney Smith.

Survivors are his children, Jerry Smith, Matt Harris (Rachel), Glenda Coghlan (Brian), Ginger Moore and Rachel Case (Tate); 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
