It is with great sadness that the family of David Edward Wilson announces his passing on June 19, 2020, at the age of 46. He passed away at his home in Brookhaven, Mississippi.
David was born on Nov. 13, 1973, in Jackson, Mississippi, to Jon and Judy Wilson. He graduated from Brookhaven Academy in 1992. David’s favorite pastimes as a child involved playing board games with his sister, fishing and swimming. During his teenage years, he enjoyed fishing with his great uncle who resided in Biloxi. He was a very quick learner and capable of reciting long literary passages from memory.
David suffered a spinal injury in 1992 that left him paralyzed from the waist down, but he recovered with great tenacity after a year of physical therapy rehabilitation at Methodist Rehabilitation Center. Upon rehabilitation, he volunteered there and earned an award from the former mayor of Jackson, Kane Ditto, for the amount of volunteer work he did in service to others.
David was a member of Heucks Retreat Baptist Church and was baptized there as a child. He was a Christian who stumbled in his walk with Jesus, but seemingly, he never lost hope that Christ was his only salvation. David loved his family and adored his mother, Judy Hall. In his later years, David looked after his grandmother, Doris Deaton Wahl, making sure his needs were met.
He is survived by his mother, Judy Hall, stepfather David Hall, his sister Melissa Wilson, and his brother-in-law Michael Rutledge. He was preceded in death by his father Jon Wilson, grandparents Clyde and Dorothy Wilson, and grandparents Carl and Doris Wahl. Funeral services are incomplete at this time.
