Brookhaven Mayor Joe Cox, who was hospitalized earlier this month after becoming very ill with COVID-19 coronavirus, is now at home recovering.

Monday night, Cox thanked the healthcare providers who had worked with him. He spent some of his treatment time in the hospital’s intensive care unit.

“Earlier today I was released from the hospital and will continue medical treatment at home for the effects of COVID-19,” Cox wrote in a social media post on the City of Brookhaven’s Facebook page.

“Please keep my family in your prayers. Stay safe, stay well, and God bless,” Cox wrote.
