Lake Arthur: It’s with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Marida Broussard Mallett announces her passing from this life on September 27, 2020 at the age of 88. Marida was born in Lake Arthur, LA to Dewey Broussard and Clementine Conner Broussard on February 10, 1932. She was a retired LPN, she loved caring for people. She loved reading, collecting family photos, and the Lord. Marida’s greatest joys came from the memories she made with her family but especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren that she adored. She was a kind and loving soul who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Marida is survived by her daughter, Anna Mallett Barrett (Cody) of Brookhaven, MS; her brother, Leroy Broussard (Betty) of Basile, LA; her sister, Marie Broussard Martin of Bayou Vista, LA; her two grandchildren, Jordan Powell, Kyle Powell (E’owyn); her two great-grandchildren, Rose and Kate Buie.

Marida was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Oliver Mallett; her parents, Dewey and Clementine Broussard; her brothers, Percy, Adam “J.B.,” Edwin & Richard Broussard; her sisters, Edwina Hebert, Jane Henderson, and Rosemae Broussard.

Funeral Services for Marida Broussard Mallett, 88 of Brookhaven, MS formerly of Lake Charles, LA were held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Lake Arthur, LA on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at 12 p.m. with Deacon Mike Tramel officiating. Burial followed in St. Anthony Cemetery.

A gathering of family and friends was held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Lake Arthur, LA on Thursday, October 1, 2020 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of her service at 12 p.m.
