Interstate 55 southbound through Lincoln County has been closed until further notice, according to the Mississippi Department of Transportation and Mississippi Highway Patrol.

A crash and stalled tractor/trailer trucks have brought southbound traffic to a standstill on the interstate highway near exit 48, Mt. Zion Road, and exit 30 at Bogue Chitto.

Conditions are continuing to deteriorate along this passageway, and drivers are advised to stay off the roadway until icy conditions improve.
