COVID update: 427 new MS cases, 26 new deaths

Though no new COVID-19 related deaths were reported to the Mississippi State Department of Health for Sunday, 26 new deaths were reported as of 3 p.m. Monday. Over the two days, 427 new positive test results were also reported — 70 on Sunday and 357 Monday.
Lincoln County had 12 new cases reported Monday, up to 3,644 positive test results and 104 deaths since February 2020.
Of Lincoln’s neighboring counties, Jefferson has had the least number of cases at 630, and Franklin and Lawrence have had the least deaths, at 20 and 21, respectively. Pike County has had the most cases of the virus in these counties, at 3,035, and the most deaths, at 97.
Amite County has had 1,128 cases and 37 deaths; Copiah has had 2,801 cases and 59 deaths; Franklin has had 766 cases and 20 deaths; Jefferson has reported 630 cases and 27 deaths; Lawrence has reported 1,218 cases and 21 deaths; Pike has had 3,035 cases and 97 deaths; and Walthall County has reported 1,258 cases and 41 deaths.
The state has recorded 298,008 cases of the coronavirus — 184,475 confirmed — and 6,834 virus-related deaths — 4,753 confirmed. The state presumes 90,697 people have recovered from COVID-19 infections as of Monday.
