Mill Creek affordable housing community accepting applications

Mill Creek subdivision off South First Street in Brookhaven is now accepting applications.

The new affordable housing community is a privately-owned neighborhood featuring 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom single family design homes.

Homes are equipped with energy efficient green appliances including oven, dishwasher, range, refrigerator, washer and dryer. Mill Creek will have an on-site business center, playground and exterior security.

Homes are smoke-free and no pets are allowed.

Sample floor plans can be seen on Mill Creek’s website, MillCreekMS.com. Handicap accessible homes are also available.

Income restrictions apply. All applicants must quality by Mississippi Regional Housing Authority guidelines for Moderate to Low Income Housing.

Applicants and occupants age 18 and older must:

  • Complete an application.
  • Provide a state-issued driver license or ID card.
  • Have third-party verification of household income, such as employment, Social Security benefits, AFDC, child support, unemployment benefits, retirement, pensions, alimony or self-employment business.
  • Successfully pass a credit check, past rental history verification and criminal background checks.
  • Have a total household income 2.5 times the rental rate of the unit applied for.

An application fee of $11.75 is required, as well as a $300 security deposit, which will be refunded if the application is rejected. If the application is canceled, the deposit will be forfeited.

Applicants cannot exceed the Housing and Urban Development household income limits. Max rents are $972 gross and $823 net.

5 — $40,380

6 — $43,380
