COVID-19 cases down, but deaths remain high

During the last week, there were 12,167 positive COVID-19 cases reported to the Mississippi State Department of Health between Feb. 8 and Feb. 14, and there were 319 COVID-19 related deaths. To date, there have been 782,689 COVID-19 cases in Mississippi and 11,697 COVID-19 deaths.

In long-term facilities, there are 204 current active outbreaks (any confirmed COVID-19 case among the facility workers or residents).

By the week ending Feb. 11, there were 662 numbers of schools reporting, with 875 new K-12 student cases and 185 new teacher-staff cases.

There were 787 currently hospitalized COVID-19 patients and 215 in intensive care.

MSDH reported Tuesday that there have been 3,696,272 total reported vaccinations by Mississippi providers. Of that number, 1,723,729 people have received at least one dose, 1,502,479 people are fully vaccinated and 541,702 people have received a booster dose or third dose.

The breakdown of vaccines administered in Lincoln County and in surrounding counties is provisional at this time and is as follows:

Lincoln County – 14,597 residents have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccination, which is 43 percent. There are 12,971 fully vaccinated, which is 38 percent, and 31,329 doses given all together.

Amite County – 4,935 residents have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccination, which is 40 percent. There are 4,561 fully vaccinated, which is 37 percent, and 10,686 doses given all together.

Copiah County – 16,458 residents have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccination, which is 59 percent. There are 14,993 fully vaccinated, which is 53 percent, and 36,053 doses given all together.

Franklin County – 3,975 residents have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccination, which is 52 percent. There are 3,630 fully vaccinated, which is 47 percent, and 8,589 doses given all together.

Jefferson County – 5,370 residents have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccination, which is 77 percent. There are 4,839 fully vaccinated, which is 69 percent, and 11,786 doses given all together.

Lawrence County – 7,567 residents have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccination, which is 60 percent. There are 6,786 fully vaccinated, which is 54 percent, and 16,648 doses given all together.

Pike County – 21,102 residents have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccination, which is 54 percent. There are 18,956 fully vaccinated, which is 48 percent, and 45,695 doses given all together.

Walthall County – 6,103 residents have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccination, which is 43 percent. There are 5,640 fully vaccinated, which is 39 percent, and 13,151 doses given all together.
