James Hensley “Jimmy” Mitchell

James Hensley “Jimmy” Mitchell, 75, of Union Church, Mississippi passed away on March 4, 2022, peacefully in his sleep.
Jimmy was born on Aug. 10, 1946, to Paul and Margaret Mitchell in Jackson, Tennessee. Jimmy moved to Pearl, Mississippi in 1959 and graduated from Pearl High School.
Jimmy married Virginia Ann King of Union Church in 1967. They were married for 54 years and have two wonderful daughters, Carisa and Kendra. In his lifetime. Jimmy wore many hats. He served in the Mississippi National Guard, he was a Jackson police officer on the motorcycle squad, he worked in the oil field as a mud and drilling consultant, and he traveled the country as an owner-operator in the trucking industry. Strong in his Christian faith, Jimmy had a passion for writing and singing gospel songs. A kind and loving husband, father and grandfather, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Mitchell and Margaret Demastus Mitchell, his brother David Mitchell and his sister Paula Mitchell Cook. He is survived by his wife Ginger Mitchell, his daughter Carisa Mitchell, his daughter Kendra Mitchell Simpson, his son-in-law Jim Simpson, Jr., his grandson Gaston Blake “Gus” Simpson, his brother Richard Mitchell and several loving nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be held Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at Union Church Cemetery at 11 a.m. Flowers can be sent to Brookhaven Funeral Home, 894 Natchez Drive NE, Brookhaven, Mississippi 39601.
