Ms. Smith was a 1970 graduate of Eva L. Harris High School and was given the award for perfect attendance upon graduation. She gave her life to Christ at an early age and was a member of the Greater Mount Olive Church. She would later move her membership to Mount Wade M.B. Church. Irma loved God, her children, and life. She was a very devoted mother to her children until the end and was a true testimony to many she knew and did not know.

Irma was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Calvin, Othel, O.C. and sister Marilyn Williams. Left to cherish her loving life are children Byron, Tommy (Dawn), Kristy Smith, Jennifer Byther, devoted son-in-law Lonnie Byther and grandson Tomarrion Smith of Memphis, TN. She is also survived by sisters Patricia Hughes, Jeanette Dixon of Lansing, MI, and LeEdna Smith and brothers Edward and Jesse Williams both of Springfield, MA, Wendell Williams of Madison, MS, and Leander Williams.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank the loving administrators and staff of Silver Cross Health and Rehab for making the last years of her life more manageable through the love, dedication, and care shown to her. The family would also like to thank Deaconess Home Health, Compassus, and the dedicated aides, nurses, and doctors of KDMC who worked tirelessly with our mom.
