The Loyd Star High School Hornets boys’ golf team, along with coaches Lydia King and Chris King, received a Senate Resolution Wednesday for winning the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class I State Championship.

Sen. Jason Barrett of Brookhaven led the presentation. The Hornets outlasted Wesson, Tupelo Christian and Pisgah on May 8-9 in a nine-team tournament to win the MHSAA championship hosted by Wolf Hollow in Wesson. Members of the team are Dawson Hester, Riley Case, Riley Easterling, Caden White, Brody Thibodeaux, Craig Bass, Casen DeHart, Douglas James and Trevor Smith.
