BROOKHAVEN — Saddle up and get ready to ride for the 2022 Ole Brook Rodeo to be held June 17 to June 18, 2022 at the Lincoln County Civic Center in Brookhaven. It will be a full blown rodeo with bronco busting, bull riding, rodeo clowns, barrel racing, steer wrestling and cattle roping.
Brandon Dunn is the lead rodeo clown and is from Petrolia, Texas. Shelby Bearden with Bearden Rodeo Inc. will provide the stock for the rodeo featuring contestants from the Tri-State Rodeo Association.
Tickets are $15 at the gate and $12 in advance, which can be purchased at Co-Lin Feed and Seed or the Wand Seed Store. Tickets for kids 10 and under are $12 and $10 in advance and children five and under are free. A kids bicycle will be given away each night of the rodeo.
Children will have the opportunity to partake in the festivities with a calf scramble and mutton busting. Lincoln County Civic Center Facilities Manager Quinn Jordan said the youth interested in mutton busting must be five to seven years old and weigh 60 pounds or less.
All a child has to do to be involved in mutton busting is sign up at the concession stand. There is a $10 entry fee but a child competing in the mutton busting doesn’t need a ticket, he said. Children will need to have a waiver signed. He said it is recommended a child wears blue jeans as a helmet will be provided. Mutton Busting will start at 6:00 so contestants should be there at 5:30 each night.
“With gas prices so high you should stay here at home and watch Dixie National level Contestants and shows here in Southwest Mississippi,” Jordan said. “Between our clowns and funny man, the kids will have a great time.”
