Heat and humidity could cause heat illness to occur and is more likely with prolonged exposure. NWS said in the advisory people should drink water, stay in air conditioned rooms, stay out of the sun and check in on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave children or pets unattended in vehicles.

Heat stress risk will continue throughout the week as the heat index could climb from 100 to 110 degrees.

There are ways to beat the heat in Brookhaven. Splash pads are open at Bethel Park, City Park and Bi-Centinial Park if you are looking for a way to cool off.
