The National Weather Service in Jackson warns Southwest Mississippi residents of increasing heat stress over the next few days.

High temperatures in the low to mid 90s combined with increasing moisture this weekend into mid-next week will result in increased heat stress, with heat indices near 105 degrees along and west of Interstate 55.

Heat exhaustion will be possible with prolonged outdoor activity. NWS suggests people make sure to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous outdoor activities and take frequent breaks when outdoors.
