A $2.8 million mill and overlay project in Lincoln County is underway.
The Mississippi Department of Transportation project covers two portions of State Route 184 stretching two miles from Hwy. 84 to Hwy. 51 (Natchez Avenue) and five miles from the beginning of state maintenance near Brookway Boulevard to Hwy. 84 (Monticello Street).
Hwy. 583 will be milled and overlaid from Hwy. 84 to the end of state maintenance.
Crews will also place pavement markings on one mile of Hwy. 550, from Hwy. 51 to the end of state maintenance. Crews will work at night.
The project was awarded to Dickerson & Bowen Inc., of Brookhaven, and is expected to be complete in early fall.
The company has also completed an MDOT project in Lawrence County. The $2.6 million project overlaid the Monticello Bypass — Hwy. 84 from Old Hwy. 27 E to State Route 184.
“These infrastructure projects have a big impact on the traveling public, no matter the size of the job,” said Southern Transportation District Commissioner Tom King. “Highway improvements increase safety and bolster commerce, which is crucial to rural and urban areas alike.”
