Bobby Joe (BJ) Wallace, formerly of Brookhaven, MS passed away on July 8, 2022, in Midland TX. He was born August 17th, 1944, in Bogue Chitto, MS to Cecil and Omalee Freeman Wallace. He graduated from Bogue Chitto High School in 1963. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served in Vietnam.

After serving his country for 4 years, he began traveling both domestically and abroad with the oil industry. Later in life he founded a family owned and operated water well drilling business where he worked until his retirement a few years ago. Among the places he traveled, worked and lived were Brazil, Hawaii, South Africa, Los Angeles, Chicago, Wyoming, Arizona, Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. He eventually met and married the love of his life, Bridget Hebert Wallace. They started their family immediately. First they had a son, Bryce, then just a couple years later a daughter, Megan.

The past 5 years of his life gave him great sorrow coupled with great joy. In 2017 he lost his wife after a very short battle with cancer. However, he was recently blessed with two granddaughters and his first grandson will be arriving October 2022. His children and grandchildren were his world.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Omalee Wallace, his wife, Bridget Wallace, his father-in-law, Joseph Hebert, and his sister-in-law, Faye Wallace.

Left to cherish his memory are his children; Bryce Wallace (Tara) and Megan Caid (Justin); two granddaughters, Avery Caid and Layla Wallace; his only sibling, Wayne Wallace (Pat), mother-in-law, Priscilla Hebert; nephews, Joey Wallace (Janice), Cliff Wallace (Karen), Scotty Wallace (Gail) and Travis Wallace (Kristy), as well as niece Deedee Henning (Paul). He is also survived by a host of great nieces and nephews as well as the Wallace and Freeman cousins in Lincoln County and the surrounding area. One very important person left to cherish his memory is his only surviving aunt, Georgia Mae Freeman, who is 97 years young.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held at the Brookhaven Building (formerly known as the FEMA building) on Sunday, Aug. 7th 2-4 p.m. We invite you to come celebrate and share your fondest memories with our family.
