LOYD STAR — Local rains over the past week have contributed to the Bayou Pierre, which starts in Lincoln County and flows north, to breach its banks. Roaring water, hidden debris and unknown depths could pose a hazard on these bodies of water while fishing or hunting alligators, the season opens Saturday.
Rainfall is expected to continue to fall which could lead to more localized flooding of rivers, creeks and bayous and standing water in low lying areas. NWS in Jackson warns people to stay weather aware and to be cautious as flood water could wash out roads, banks and other structures.
