Mildred Sasser Woodall

Mildred Sasser Woodall, 90, of Bogue Chitto, MS, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2022, surrounded by family at her home. She was born on March 12, 1932, to Lillie Cranfield and Clifton Cranfield in Franklin County, MS.

Visitation is Monday, October 3rd from 5-8 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home. The following day, Tuesday, October 4th, a visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. with celebration of life service starting at 11 a.m. at Montgomery Baptist Church in Bogue Chitto, MS. After the service, burial will be in the Moak-Sasser Cemetery on Bogue Chitto Road. Dr. Mike Carr and Bro. Larry Russell will officiate.

She graduated from Independence School. She spent her life diligently serving the Lord, her family, and the community, always selflessly meeting the needs of others. She was very involved in church, serving as WMU director, Sunday school teacher, choir member, and on numerous committees. The last several years, she faithfully attended Montgomery Baptist Church, where she was an active member of her Sunday school class.

As matriarch of a close-knit family, she loved being active in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. A featured cook in The Daily Leader, she was well-known for her culinary skills, always getting requests for her chicken pie, chocolate pie, and egg custard pie. She enjoyed keeping a large garden every year, so fresh vegetables would be plentiful.

Mildred was preceded in death by parents; husbands Russell Sasser and R. E. Woodall; brothers Earl Wilkinson, Leroy Wilkinson, Emmit Johnston, Ray Cranfield, and John Henry Johnston; sisters Ammie Allred, Nannie Bell Allred, Myrtie Cranfield, Marie Pickering, Rhoda Thorton, Bessie Mae Gill, and Mattie Jones; and a precious granddaughter Traci Sasser.

She is survived by children; sons Sidney Sasser (Melissa), Larry Sasser (Kathy), Danny Sasser, Bruce Forshee (Mary); and daughters Sharon King (Scott) and Sheila Carter (Stan). She is also survived by one sister Lillie Dickinson.

She was also blessed with 11 grandchildren; Kim Sasser Jones, Karen Vest (Johnaton), Lane Sasser (Annisa), Dustin Sasser (Ashley), Blake Sasser (Brittany), Victoria McNair (Matt), Brittany Williams (Jeff), Brooke Morse (Jacob), Danielle Sasser, Russ Carter (Lindsay), and Matt Carter (Kady) and nineteen great grandchildren Kylie Windmiller, Zachary Jones, Sydney Vest, Aiden Vest, Cooper Vest, Hunter Sasser, Colby Sasser, Elijah Sasser, Logan Sasser, Parker Williams, Payton Williams, Paxton Williams, Madison Mildred Morse, Leighton Russell, Anniston Carter, Beckett Carter, Landry Carter, Jackson Carter and Tate Carter.

Pallbearers are Russ Carter, Matt Carter, Lane Sasser, Blake Sasser, Hunter Sasser, and Colby Sasser.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Hospice Ministries Inc. including her caring nurse Brittni Smith, Montgomery Baptist Church, and the friends and family in the community that have provided prayer, food, love and support during this time.
