BROOKHAVEN — Joseph Deer placed the star on Brookhaven’s Christmas Tree from a bucket truck ahead of the Christmas season Monday. Brookhaven Electric has helped put the tree together for the past three years.

Workers from Brookhaven Recreation Department and Brookhaven Electric had arrived at Railroad Park to begin work at 9 a.m. They would have finished at about 11:30 a.m. but a part needed to plug in the star to the lights was lost. Workers were able to find it and finish the job at around 2p.m. The tree is decorated with lights and a variety of blue, red, gold and silver baubles.

It is made up of about five sections but over the years the workers have learned how to keep it in three stages of set up to make things easier. Standing 32 feet tall, the tree is made up of a metal frame with artificial evergreen branches on the outside.
