JA Wish Tree children need sponsors

The Brookhaven Junior Auxiliary is looking for people to sponsor children in need this Christmas.

The JA Wish Tree Project has trees and ornaments around town — at CSpire, King’s Daughters Medical Center, Broma’s Deli, and the Brookhaven-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce. Each ornament has a child’s name and necessary information. Sponsors are asked to purchase specified items for that child.

The deadline for items to be dropped off has been extended to Dec. 5. Unfortunately, the 2022 referral process has ended, and additional referrals cannot be accepted for this holiday season. A child is recommended based on need, as determined by a confidential referral system assisted by the public schools.

Drop-off locations for the gifts — including any new, unused toys or clothes — are Betsy Smith Properties, CSpire, and Lowery Payne & Leggett CPA.

“If you don’t have the time to shop, we will gladly do the shopping for you,” said JA member and Chamber Tourism/Membership Director Jillian Ricceri. “Mail donations to JA Wish Tree Project, P.O. Box 169, Brookhaven, MS 39602.”
