BROOKHAVEN — Sears Hometown Stores’s Brookhaven Location is closing soon if you haven’t already seen the store closing sale signage in the windows. Signage points to the end of the road for the local department store which sold tools, appliances and more. 

According to the US Bankruptcy Delaware District Court, Sears Hometown Stores filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Dec. 12, 2022. Sears Hometown has locations nearby in Magee, Natchez and Bogalusa and will close them as well. 

Sears parent company Transform Co has yet to respond to a request for comment. Brookhaven’s local store was unable to answer any questions about the closure and deferred to the CEO of Sears who has not responded to questions.
