BROOKHAVEN — Severe weather should move back through the area Wednesday. NWS Jackson forecasts a marginal risk of severe storms and a limited threat of flooding Wednesday.

Isolated severe storms with strong wind gusts and capable of producing tornadoes will move through Brookhaven Wednesday afternoon to evening. A more detailed time will likely be available the closer the storm approaches.

One to two inches of rain could be possible adding to the 8.81 inches of rain Brookhaven has received since January 1 and 1.67 inches of rain this month. Rivers, creeks and bayous already full of water could rise quickly resulting in more river flooding. Flash flooding of low lying areas and urban environments could also be a risk Wednesday.

NWS Jackson reminds the public to turn around and don’t drown if they encounter a flooded roadway. The pavement could be washed out underneath or flood waters can sweep a vehicle off of the road way.
