GREENWOOD — Brookhaven Academy won the MAIS 5A Girls Basketball State Championship Saturday. They beat Leake Academy 42-36 to claim the state title.

BA got off to a strong start and led Leake 30-22 at halftime en route to the six point win. Leake finished the season 34-6 while BA was 39-3. The Cougars are coached by Ron Kessler.

BA had last played for the state championship in 2018.
