NWS Jackson investigating Lincoln County tornado

LITTLE  BAHALIA — NWS Jackson is conducting several tornado surveys after another series of storms spawned tornadoes in Mississippi. Five tornadoes are reported to have touched down in Mississippi on February 16th bringing the year to date total to 14.

One of those tornadoes touched down in the community of Little Bahalia tearing siding off of a home, destroying a carport and completely lifting a mobile home off of a trailer. The one in Lincoln County touched down on Mound Road.

It is reported by the NWS Jackson office to be an EF1 with top wind speeds at 100 mph and traveling 1.1 miles. The tornado had a maximum width of 75 yards. No one was injured in the tornado but Mississippi’s first tornado injury of the year was recorded in Tippah County.
