Local restaurants pass inspections

BROOKHAVEN — Mississippi Department of Health graded five local food establishments in the first half of March. Wards, P.K.’s Quick Mart, DLT, Donut Palace and Tropical Smoothie passed the inspections according to the MDOH website.
Wards, located at 201 US51 North, is considered a fast food restaurant and was graded an A in a health inspection on March 2, 2023. It is the third A rating they have had since April 2022. The report showed zero violations.
Donut Palace, located at 412 W. Monticello Street is considered a fast food restaurant and received an A rating in their health inspection on March 2, 2023. This is the sixth straight year they have received an A rating with zero violations over those years including the visit on March 2.
Tropical Smoothie, located at 981 Brookway Boulevard, received an A in its March 8th inspection. It is considered a fast food or delicatessen by the health department. There were zero violations on the March 8 visit, an improvement from an inspection in October which found a violation which had nothing to do with food safety.
Health department found they had not posted their permit last inspected under the good retail practices category. The violation was corrected on site that day and was in compliance on March 8.
P.K.’s Quick Mart, considered fast food, is located at 410 Main Street. It received an A rating from the health department on March 8. No violations were recorded in the inspection.
DLT, listed as a mobile unit, has an address of 3744 Chisholm Drive Southwest in Summit. They were visited by the health department this week and received an A rating with zero violations.
