BROOKHAVEN — It was a crisp 29 degrees this morning when the sun rose and ice covered grass, blackberry bushes and clover. NWS Jackson forecasts Brookhaven and Southwest Mississippi to have another visit from Jack Frost tonight.

Temperatures are expected to fall to near freezing tonight with patchy frost expected throughout the area. Unprotected vegetation may become damaged in the frost. The low tonight is 33. Tuesday is forecast to get up to 67 degrees with sunny skies.

NWS warns of fire danger in the southeastern part of the state Tuesday. Eastern Lawerence County has a limited threat of fire danger so be cautious if doing any open burning today. There are no current burn bans enacted but gusty winds of 20 mph on Tuesday could make it dangerous to burn.
