Louis Delaughter

Louis L. (Buddy) Delaughter passed away at home on March 24, 2023, at the age of 84. He was born on March 5, 1939, to Hardy Louis Delaughter and Eloise Hayes Delaughter.

Buddy was born and raised in Brookhaven, Mississippi. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Red Star Ward) where he served in several ward and stake callings. He was a veteran of the US Army where he served as a medic and an intelligence officer. Following his service in the Army, he worked offshore in Brazil for many years. Upon returning from offshore, he operated his own logging business. Later in life, Buddy was the bookkeeper for Weeks Repair and Welding until his retirement.  Buddy loved working with computers and performing genealogical research to complete his family tree. He also earned his pilot’s license and enjoyed recreational flying.

Preceding him in death were his parents Hardy and Eloise Delaughter; beloved wife of 63 years, Juanita Delaughter; brother Harold Delaughter; sister Patsy Rutland; and grandson Cortland Dobson.

Surviving relatives include daughter Cabrina Weeks (Dean); son Randy Delaughter (Annette); daughter Cindy Hall (Bart); son Ronny Delaughter (Kelly); brother Jerry Delaughter (Linda) and brother Bruce (Becky). Buddy is also survived by eleven grandchildren: Brittany Trent (Robert), Matthew Delaughter (Annie), Lyle Weeks (Marlana), Abby Delaughter (Kourtlyn), Brooke Keene (Travis), Nick Delaughter (Shoncye), Meggie Dobson, Lyndon Weeks (Wayne), Kirsten Dobson, Brantley Weeks, and Adam Satterfield (M. J.); and seventeen great-grandchildren with one more on the way.

Funeral services are private, with interment at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints – Red Star Ward in Brookhaven, Mississippi.
