Try to stay dry as heavy rain brings flash flooding

LOYD STAR — The Bayou Pierre rose over six feet from rain last night. According to the National Weather Service Jackson office, a total of 3.34 inches of rain have fallen in the past 24 hours. Most of the rainfall came early this morning.

Localized rainfall amounts could be higher depending on where you live in Lincoln County and the surrounding areas. NWS Jackson warned yesterday of one to three inches of rain falling in a short amount of time causing flash flooding in low lying and urban areas. Heavy rainfall can also cause minor river flooding in rivers, creeks and bayous.

Saturday afternoon has a 20 percent chance of rain before Easter Sunday. The high today is 69 with a low of 53. Wind is blowing at 5 mph out of the north.
