Rainy weather could return Friday

BROOKHAVEN  — April showers and severe weather outlooks are the spirit of springtime in Mississippi. While Monday and Tuesday are filled with warm sunshine and bluebird skies, cloudy days are ahead.

National Weather Service in Jackson warns severe weather poses a marginal risk to Lincoln County and the surrounding areas Friday to Friday night. The event is still several days away so there is no exact forecast as to what the dangers could be.

There is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Friday with wind gusts reaching 20 mph. Thursday has a similar outlook of rain Thursday night. A 30 percent chance of rain and 25 mph wind gusts could start off the freaky severe weather.

Tuesday through Thursday afternoon is forecast to be sunny. The high for Tuesday will be 77 with a low of 54 and a nice breeze at 5 to 10 mph out of the south. Wednesday will have a high of 79 and a low of 59. Thursday will get to a high of 84 and drop to a low of 64.

A small chance of rain is forecast Friday, Saturday before sunshine returns Sunday. Cooler weather is expected to follow any storms in the area.
