Loyd Star, West Lincoln, Brookhaven finish strong in regional track meets

BROOKHAVEN — Athletes from West Lincoln, Loyd Star and Brookhaven competed in respective 2A and 5A regional meets in Hattiesburg Thursday. Ole Brook’s boys finished second behind Hattiesburg while the Lady Panthers finished in first place. 

In the 2A meet, West Lincoln’s Alaina Mathis finished fourth in the 3200m with a 17 minutes and 19.7 seconds. She was the only girl representing Lincoln County in the 2A meet. Loyd Star’s James Goodwin finished eighth in the 100m dash with a time of 11.84 seconds. 

Medium distance runner Gauge Montgomery finished fourth for Loyd Star in the 800m. He blazed a time of 2 minutes and 15.72 seconds. Montgomery won a regional championship in the 1600m race with a first place finish in 4 minutes and 57.56 seconds. West Lincoln’s Hayden Skates finished fourth with a time of 5 minutes and 28.21 seconds.

In long distance, Skates finished second in the 3200 meters with a time of 12 minutes and 16 seconds. Loyd Star’s Carson Sellers finished third with a time of 12 minutes and 33.69 seconds. 

In team relays, Loyd Star finished fifth in the 4x100m with a time of 47.77 seconds. The Hornets finished sixth with a time of 1 minute and 38.66 seconds in the 4×200. 

Loyd Star thrower Brandon Jenkins finished second in the discus with a toss of 29.11 meters. 

At the 5A meet, Brookhaven’s Caiden Qurales finished third in the 100m dash with a time of 11.38 seconds. Three panthers finished back-to-back-to-back in the 110m hurdles. Jimmy Johns finished fourth with a time of 16.46 seconds, Kemarion Brown finished fifth with a time of 17.32 seconds and Jamien Wright finished sixth with a time of 17.64 seconds. 

Quarles won the 200m with a time of 22.53 seconds. Jaden Allen finished fifth with a time of 23.36 seconds. Brown finished third in the 300m hurdles with a time of 42.93 seconds. Ladarius Wilcher finished second in the 400m with a time of 51.63 seconds while William Buie finished third with a time of 52.55 seconds. 

Cooper Wallace finished fourth in the 800 meter race with a time of 2 minutes and 15.20 seconds. Dalevyun Dixon finsihed sixth with a time of 2 minutes and 18.16 seconds. Wallace took first in the 1600 meter race with a time of 4 minutes and 54.9 seconds. Coleman Knott finished sixth for Ole Brook with a time of 5:07.17. 

Wallace finished second in the 3200m with a time of 10 minutes and 16.93 seconds. He was .05 seconds behind first place. Knott finished fourth with a time of 11 minutes and 41.41 seconds. Isaac Stovall finished sixth with a time of 12 minutes and 19.55 seconds. 

Brookhaven’s 4×100 relay team took fourth with a time of 44.15 seconds. Their 4×200 team took third with 1 minute and 30.45 seconds. The 4×400 team took third with 3 minutes and 38.73 seconds. Ole Brook finished fifth in the 4×800 relay with a time of 9 minutes and 25.69 seconds. 

Brodie Ezell finished first in the discus with a throw of 50.9 meters. He finished first in shot put with a throw of 14.59 meters. Amareon Dunnigan finished second with a toss of 33.40 meters. Dunnigan finished eighth with a toss of 12.11 meters. 

Johns and Allen finished tied for first in the high jump with a leap of five feet and 10 inches. Jacaiden Cook finished fourth with a jump of five feet and eight inches. 

Nathan Lewis finished first in the long jump with a leap of 21 feet and 7.25 inches. Waltrelle Smith finished fourth with a bound of 21 feet and 1.5 inches. Kelan Qurales took second in pole vault by vaulting eight feet. Smith finished second in the triple jump by going 41 feet and 8.5 inches. Johns took fifth with a distance of 39 feet and 11 inches. 

Lady Panther Jayda Johnson finished fifth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.12 seconds. Chrisiyona Quarles finished second in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.95 seconds while Sierre Edwards finished third with a time of 14.97 seconds and Zyquevia Winters finished fourth in 16.34 seconds. 

Chrisiyona finished first in the 200 meter dash, blazing a time of 25.71 seconds. Edwards finished fifth in 26.55 seconds. The pair finished first and second again in the 300m hurdles with respective times of 44.98 seconds and 46.33 seconds. Aniya Finley finished fifth with a time of 53.57 seconds. 

Johnson took second in the 400 meters with a time of 1:00.28. Jasmine Robertson took first in the 800 meters with a time of 2 minutes and 34.76 seconds. Ramie Stovall finished third with a time of 2 minutes and 43.05 seconds and Isabella Iles finished fourth with a time of 2 minutes and 43.15 seconds. 

Stovall finished first in the 1600m race with a time of 5 minutes and 59.88 seconds. Robertson finished second with 6 minutes and 19.21 seconds. Iles finished fourth with a time of 6 minutes and 28.75 seconds. 

Annabelle Summers finished first in the 3200 meters with a time of 13 minutes and 53.76 seconds. Iles finished third with a time of 14 minutes and 34.91 seconds. Ariyana Graham finished third with a time of 14 minutes and 37.37 seconds. 

Brookhaven’s 4×100 relay team took fourth with 51.77 seconds. The 4×200 team took third with 1 minute and 46.74 seconds while the 4×800 team took first in 10 minutes and 48.24 seconds. 

Discus thrower Carriuna Hargro took third with a toss of 26.34 meters and Kema Roberts took fourth with a throw of 25.81 meters. Jontasia Stepney took seventh with a toss of 23.09 meters. Hargro took third in the shot put with a toss of 9.26 meters. Kemiya Crockett took sixth with a toss of 8.48 meters. 

High jumper Jakira Cook finished second with a leap of five feet and tied with Johnson. Winters finished fourth with a leap of four feet and 10 inches. 

Winters finished third in the long jump with a leap of 16 feet. J’Kariya Williams finished sixth with a leap of 14 feet and 8.5 inches. Anna Nicole Gamble was right behind her with a leap of 14 feet and 7.25 inches to take seventh. 

Triple jumper Jakeriyah Pendleton took third with a bound of 34 feet and 1.5 inches. Winters finished fifth with a leap of 33 feet and five inches while Ariyana Graham finished sixth with a leap of 32 feet and 10 inches.
