Ryane Rogers’ fifth-grade class at Brookhaven Academy wrapped up a unit study Tuesday with a sweet surprise. The students had read “Candy Bomber: The Story of the Berlin Airlift’s ‘Chocolate Pilot’” from the school’s Abeka reading curriculum. The study involved literary skills, vocabulary expansion and historical event knowledge. Paul and Jennifer Barnett provided a helicopter drop of chocolate candy bars attached to parachutes for the students.
