Weather forecast calls for a slight chance of showers

BROOKHAVEN — It is a day which ends in Y and therefore Lincoln County has a chance of rain. NWS Jackson forecasts a 30 percent chance of rain this afternoon most likely between 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Wind will blow out of the north to northwest at 5mph today and highs will getup to 90 degrees. The low for today is 67 degrees which will come tonight. A 30 percent chance of showers is expected this evening. Tuesday looks to have a 50 percent chance of rain mainly after 1 p.m.

NWS Jackson has not issued any weather hazard warnings for this week as of this morning. Last week, NWS Jackson warned of severe storms and a chance of tornadoes. Lincoln County was under a tornado watch Thursday along with several other counties in the southwest Mississippi region.

One tornado touched down Thursday and was reported by the National Weather Service. An EF1 touched down in Ashley County, Arkansas near highway 425 and east of Crossett. No one was injured or killed in the tornado. Ashley County is in the Jackson office’s warning area as are several parishes in the Louisiana delta.

Every day this week has anywhere from 20 percent to a 60 percent chance of rain much like last week.
