BROOKHAVEN — Rain remains in the forecast for the foreseeable future with showers and heat expected this weekend. At the same time, citizens can hear political candidates speak at Case’s Grocery Store on California Road starting at 6 p.m.

Saturday has a 40 percent chance of precipitation mostly after 1 p.m. Temperatures will hit a high of 94 degrees with a heat index of 105. Be sure to stay hydrated as the heat can cause heat stress and exhaustion with prolonged outdoor activity.

Saturday night will drop down to a low of 73. Sunday has a chance of showers in the morning with thunderstorms threatening in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation Sunday is 80 percent with a high of 91. Sunday night will cool off to a low of 71 degrees.

Rain chances will hit 90 percent Monday and be at least 30 percent or greater until Thursday.
