Lincoln County under Flood Watch Thursday

BROOKHAVEN — Thunderstorms are still in the forecast and Lincoln County was upgraded to a flood watch Thursday from 12 a.m. until 12 p.m. National Weather Service in Jackson warns a storm system could dump three to six inches of rain in Lincoln County over a short period of time.
An elevated threat of flooding is forecast for Lincoln County. Low lying areas could be flooded as can some roads become closed or flooded Thursday. Structures could become inundated and moderate river flooding is possible.
There is a 50 percent chance of thunderstorms this evening with rainfall amounts totaling an inch but more could be expected in thunderstorms. A 30 percent chance of precipitation is forecast Thursday morning and heavy rainfall is possible.
If you encounter a flooded roadway remember to turn around and don’t drown. Water can sweep a vehicle off of the road or cover a washed out roadway.
