Thunderstorms knock out power to some customers

BROOKHAVEN — Thunderstorms rolled through Lincoln County with heavy rains and strong winds last night. Accompanying the severe weather were power outages. As of 8 a.m. this morning, there are still people without power to start the day.
Southwest Electric reports 68 customers in Lincoln County are without power, just 1.7 percent of the Lincoln County customer base. Copiah County has 179 customers without power and Jefferson County has 476 according to Southwest Electric.
Entergy reports 82 customers in Franklin County are without power and just one customer in Lincoln County is without power.
Magnolia Electric reports 24 customers are without power but those are in Amite and Pike Counties.
It is supposed to be a hot day with a heat advisory. Brookhaven and Lincoln County do not have cooling shelters but do have two splash pads at Bicentennial Park and Brookhaven City Park.
