Funeral services for Rev. Robert “Huey” Moak will take place at Foster Road Baptist Church (Baton Rouge, LA) on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, with visitation from 2:00 until service time at 5:00 PM, with Bro. Mike Morris and Dr. Tommy Middleton officiating.
Services will take place in Bogue Chitto, MS at Arlington Baptist Church on Thursday, July 27, 2023 with visitation from 1:00 until service time at 3:00 PM, with Bro. Talmadge Smith and Bro. David Moree officiating. Graveside services will follow in the Arlington Baptist Church Cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Rev. Robert “Huey” Moak, 85, of Prairieville, LA, passed from this life on July 23, 2023. He was born on March 6, 1938, in Bogue Chitto, MS, to Malcolm and Velma Welch Moak.

He was graduate of Bogue Chitto High School, received his Bachelor’s degree from William Carey College, and his Master’s from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Bro. Huey was a Southern Baptist preacher of the gospel of Jesus Christ for 59 years; 37 of those years were spent at Foster Road Baptist Church. After retiring from full time service in 2010, he served many churches in Mississippi and Louisiana as interim pastor.

He is preceded in death by his parents and by a brother, J.P. Moak.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, the love of his life, Sarah Rebecca Grice Moak; two daughters, Kimberly Costanza of Baton Rouge and Pamela Moak of Prairieville, LA; four grandchildren, John, Laura Loewer (husband, Tyler), Rachel, and Gracen; one great-grandchild, William; and one great-granddaughter Rebecca coming in November. He is also survived by one brother, Louie Moak, and one sister, Janice Phelps of Bogue Chitto, MS.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. William Varnado, his oncologist, and all the special nurses at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at Baton Rouge General, as well as Brookhaven Funeral Home for their kindness and special care to us as a family during this time of sadness and sorrow.
