Fire departments battling grass fire in Loyd Star

LOYD STAR — Lincoln County Volunteer Fire Departments are fighting a wildfire in the Loyd Star community. A grass fire near California and Jackson Liberty Road is burning according to Lincoln County Emergency Management Agency Director Chris Reid. 

Mississippi Forestry Commission is on scene with the volunteer fire departments to fight and contain the blaze. It is the third wildfire in Lincoln County in a week’s time.

The fire is estimated to be at 10 acres in size.
