BROOKHAVEN — It has been a busy month for Lincoln County’s Volunteer Fire Departments. Volunteers are needed and so are donations.

Mary Lou Hall wrote a comment on a recent story about another way people can help their local departments. She said a group will be collecting water, gatorade, Powerade, nabs, chips and other supplies to be delivered to local departments. Fire danger is high in Lincoln County and could get worse before things get better.

“We will be in the parking lot of Weeks Barber Shop on Sunday from 2p.m. to 4 p.m. to collect these things,” Hall wrote. “Thank you to the ones who have already dropped off your donations at the shop. If not for these VFD’s we wouldn’t have much of a county left. All donations will be divided and delivered to all county VFD’s. Thank you.”

Weeks Barbershop is located at 305 US51 South.
