ZETUS — Shay Bessonette, owner of the Funky Monkey, announced her yard art and more store will close after four years of bringing life, color and art to Lincoln County. The shop was located in the old Zetus Grocery on Zetus Road.

Bessonette wrote in an announcement on the Funky Monkey Yard Art Facebook Page that she enjoyed meeting people from all over the US in her little store.

“I have enjoyed all the children coming in with smiles on their faces getting ice cream and snow cones. I’ve become very attached to many,” Bessonette said in her post. “I have enjoyed serving every single person that has walked through that door. It’s time for me to step back and move on at the same time. I have family that needs me and we all know that family comes first.”

Bessonette said she loved her time in her happy place at the Funky Monkey.

“My upcoming journey is to focus on my husband and our family,” Bessonette said. “I will also continue with my sublimation business (making tee shirts, tumblers, photo frames, jewelry and much more for personal use as well as  businesses.) So stay tuned. Thank you all.”

A sit down restaurant

Lincoln County residents will get what they have wished for, a nice sit down, dine in steakhouse. Chief’s Grill, owned by Brian Knight, will serve steaks in the neighboring Funky Monkey building.

Knight opened Chief’s Grill in May. A social media post on the Chief’s Grill Facebook page shared the news.

The plans are to open a “full blown steakhouse with all the fixings.” Knight wrote they had purchased the Funky Monkey.

Ice cream will stay so there is no cause for alarm. Chief’s Grill will remain open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.

“I believe this place will still be a happy place and I wish Brian Knight the best of luck in making his dream come true as I have in my journey,” Bessonete said in her post. “Please welcome them in the coming weeks as the transition begins.”
