Local schools go pink for breast cancer awareness

ENTERPRISE — Hot pink t-shirts filled the basketball gym at Enterprise Attendance Center Friday morning. Students, teachers, parents and guests came to hype up the football team and to support those battling breast cancer and other cancer.

Flowers were presented to two teachers at Enterprise who have battled cancer at the end of the pep rally. The Yellow Jacket dance team capped off the event with a special dance to the song “Fight Song,” ending with pompoms forming a pink breast cancer awareness ribbon.

Enterprise’s pep rally was the first of several pink themed events at our local schools. The Yellow Jackets play Resurrection Catholic tonight. A win would help the 3-3 Jackets have a winning record.

Loyd Star will dress up in pink camo for the Possum Bowl next week. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month so schools across the state are dedicating a week to pink.

Loyd Star and Bogue Chitto will meet on the football field to hash out the rivalry game known as the “Possum Bowl.” It is a big game so Loyd Star will host a pep rally in conjunction with the pink camo day.

Brookhaven Academy will also host a pink themed event when the school puts on the annual powder puff game. Monday, October 16, will be the big day for the junior class fundraiser.

Homemade food will be on sale at the event starting at 6 p.m. Powder puff t-shirts will be on sale, custom ornaments, K3 to 6th grade cheer performances and

West Lincoln will have a pink out game in a couple of weeks as well.
